The heroes wake up and head out of the Yawning Portal to see the town and sights. As they step out of the door of the Inn up the street they see that human, with the shaved head which is covered with eye-shaped tattoos and he looks really beat up. The four other guys are standing there behind him, though one of them has a bloody bandage wrapped around his shoulder and arm.
The tattooed guy yells, “we’re been looking for yous!”
One of the party of heroes says back,”have you been saying that to all that walk out the door today?”
The tatooed one holds up a purple orb and laughs at them, the four other do to. He then lobs the purple orb at the group and runs away. The the orbs hit the ground and explosed into a huge cloud of purple that covers the party and one other person on the street heading to the Yawning Portal’s door. Once the cloud starts thinning out the heroes find theselve in a different place.
The group of heroes look around to make sure the whole gang is there with them. They are and so is a person who was just walking down the street heading for the Yawning Portal Inn. They are all shock by what just happen and the person who was just walking down the street is completely lost and confused.
As they all look around the room, they see 4 round slots in the walls and written on the wall in many different languages is, “find the keys and fill the slots to get back to where you came from.”
They all are looking at the words and the rounded key slots, when one or two of them see a Mind Flayer at the open doorway with the light beam going across it. This monster tries to step into the room and is suddenly hit with a huge amount of energy and thrown across the hall into the wall there. It gets up and runs away down the hall.
The heroes are shocked and gratified that the Mind Flayer couldn’t get to them. When just out of nowhere shows up a Bugbear, it does the same thing of trying to get into the room when its hit with an energy bolt and flies across the hall into the wall there. It gets up and runs down the hallway. As they watch it run away around the corner comes a Troll, it tries to get into the room and is slammed up against the far wall. It gets up and rushes down the hall too.
The Warforged, who is a member of the group, decides to step out into the hall. It steps through the energy beam and isn’t harmed, it steps back into the room and isn’t thrown up against the far wall. They all talk it over and decide that it must be away to give them a safe area from the monster roaming the halls. A few of them step out and are suddenly attack by a Troll. They try to talk to the Troll, who tells them (in a very nice refine voice,) “I would love to stop and drink an ale with you right now, but my main job is to stop you from getting the keys and stop you from bring them back to that room.” He then screams at the top of his voice an attacks them.
This goes on for a role of combat and one of the player characters steps away from the fighting and goes looking about the maze. She finally get around a few corners and finds big marble ball, is happens to looks the size of the rounded key slots back in the room where they start from. She starts to roll it down the hallways toward the key slots room, when all of a sudden a yellow rounded dot shows up with a huge mouth , rolls their AC and takes the marble from her and puts it back at the starting place she found it at first. She shouts to the others that they just might be in a huge video game maze called PAC-MAN.
Mean while back at the combat… one of the characters want to use their great cantrip spell, Eldritch Blast, on the Troll… but the area where the fighting is taking place is to small and they need to get behind the Troll to make the Eldritch Blast work without hurting any of the PC. This character start to go around the outside of the room to see if they could get behind the Troll and use the spell. As they get around the second corner, they see a huge apple with a d10 written on it floating in the air. They rush by it, (they don’t need any HP, because they haven’t lost any at this point,) to get to the other side to be on the other side of the Troll.
A Bugbear show up just by the character trying to find a way to get behind the Troll. They fight, and the bugbear runs over to the huge apple and grabs it and gets to roll a d10 to help it with its HP. Finally, the Bugbear gets the PC down to zero HP and the PC turns into dark color ghost from PAC-MAN and flies back to the room where they all started from and has their HP back to full again.
They all figure out that it’s best to go after the marble keys and not pick fights with the monsters, try your best to avoid the monster is a better game plan. Some get to zero HP and turn into a dark ghost and go back to the start (the room for the keys.) Pac-Man shows up every once in awhile and rolls their AC and steal the marbles back to their starting place or fails to roll their AC and disappears.
The Troll is finally defeated and pops away. The group start to figure out they can use the old fire brigade method to get the marbles to the room.
A Barbarian Dwarf shows up… due to this, one of the PCs tries a spell on the Female Barbarian Dwarf to befriends her, the spells works and the both have a great time talking food, great places in Waterdeep to find clothes. The Dwarf talks about where she get a lot of things at a place that is all purple, a purple stuffed beholder in the window. A cloud of lavender-scented purple smoke trails out of the shop’s door as you peer inside. Every wall is painted purple, and every dusty knickknack on the shelves is dyed a deep violet.
This keeps the Female Barbarian Dwarf busy and the PC is able to step away from her just as the spell is going to stop and the Barbarian go into the Rage mode with primal ferocity. Wall the PC get in the starting room and put the keys in the slots. A big booming voice counts how many keys are put back and once the put the last key in a paper falls out of the air and floats to the floor.
They pick it up and it is a deed to a remarkable property in Waterdeep. Someone must sign the deed… one of the group gang does quickly and the voice asks if anyone else want to sign. They all do, but not the Warforged, nor the person walking the streets and accidently ends up there by chance. The group tells them that if they ever change their minds, they are welcome to sign later. The voice asks if they are all done? They indicate yes. Suddenly they are in a different place… the tavern & Inn’s taproom, that they just signed the deed for, is filled with broken furniture, tarnished silverware, casks of wine that have turned to vinegar, and worthless detritus. Home sweet messy home… they go about exploring the place and hiring a cleaning crew, meeting the ghost of the manor and get a pet Fire Elemental Frog.
Next the fine art of owning a business… sometimes it’s easier to train a herd of cats!
