Mysteries have been one of my favorite guilty pleasures since as long as I can remember… when I was much younger a good friend of my, Brent Nelson, introduced me to Encyclopedia Brown, a series of books featuring the adventures of that boy detective. The mysteries are intended to be solved by the reader, thanks to the placement of logic problems or factual inconsistency of the evidence in the stories. They were normally two-minute mysteries. Brown invariably solves the case by exposing the inconsistency, the “answers” could be found in the back of the book. They were fun to read and Brent and I had a great time reading them to each other and trying to figure them out. I also loved the TV show The NBC Mystery Movie that had McCloud, Columbo, McMillan & Wife, Hec Ramsey and later… Banacek, Cool Million, Madigan, and The Snoop Sisters. Plus there was Ellery Queen too.

Sometimes you just like to write in the format that works best for you… scripts work great for me.
I have just read J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Parts One and Two (Special Rehearsal Edition): The Official Script by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany. I Thought if these writers could put out scripts to read… why not me. So, here I go. I have lots of script that I won’t ever get around to turning into Audio Theatre shows (not enough time in the day to do everything.) Some have become Murder Mystery Event Shows other will now become these…
Here’s the link to that Murder Mystery story script I was telling you about…

Sherlock Holmes to Broadchurch… Our love of a good murder mystery. What if we could make them interactive… where you could actually take part in being a suspect or detective or both!

Mysteries are fun and thrilling and can push us beyond our thoughts. It’s not so much about good and evil, or whether the villain(s) get caught (because most of the time they do)… what I really think is that people love the way a mystery can make them, the viewing audience, the reader, the listener of the podcast, feel the fear, and the horror and the suspense. It still works today… just look at Broadchurch… its storylines are of a very nasty subject, but it’s still immensely popular.
